What is a social network?

Wikipedia describes it as: “A social structure made of individuals (or organizations) called "nodes," which are tied (connected) by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as friendship, kinship, financial exchange, dislike, or relationships of beliefs, knowledge or prestige.” For our purposes today we are looking at the specific components of an internet- based social network.

Procceed With Caution On Social Networking Sites

This morning Kathy passed along an informative insert from the Sunday paper. It was produced by LifeLock, an internet identity theft protection service. This story was about a man who had his Facebook identity stolen. His profile appeared the same but his status read, "Bryan Rutberg is in urgent need of help!". It went on to say that he was in London and urgently needed money wired to him. Of course, this was a variation of the "Nigerian" or "419" scam and he was nowhere near London and didn't need help. Unfortunately, a well-meaning friend sent of $1,200.00 and it was lost.
If I ever ask for help from London don't send anything. The odds are I'm having a great time in London and if I needed help I certainly wouldn't post it on Facebook.
Here is the link to notify Facebook if you have identity theft issues: http://www.facebook.com/help.php

So Far I'm Happy With Photoshop CS4

Although I had to upgrade my graphics card to make it work I am really happy about being able to rotate my images on the fly in Photoshop CS4. It makes my use of the Wacom tablet even more beneficial when isolating an image from a background using a mask. I avoid having to "push my pen to the upper left when drawing. Of course, now that I've caught up with Photoshop I am guessing CS5 is just around the corner.

Today was all about writing

William Clark and I are putting together a workshop program on Internet Social Networking for our TCPPA group. Right now it looks like our event will be held at his studio on March 29th or thereabouts. We hope to demonstrate how to integrate the current roster of social networking sites into an overall system for building business.

Developing Cross-posting Techniques

Today I've been working on developing a "catalog" of systems for establishing cross-posting between social networking methods. For example, if a post is made in Twitter it will show up in Facebook, my blog and website instantaneously. Blog posts will post in Linkedin and Facebook. In late March I am teaching a workshop (along with associate, William Clark) on how to seamlessly and effortlessly maximize social networking for your business.

Free Facebook Portrait Day A Big Success

Kathy and I had so much fun with our Free Facebook Portrait day event. Daughter, Michelle came out and handled all the computer work and I think she really enjoyed getting to know all of our guests. The day was a great success and everyone seemed to have a wonderful experience. We are definately looking at doing another Free Facebook Portrait day or something similar in the future. Here is some of the feedback we recieved:

Have to agree with Jeannie that the J&K Creative photo shoot yesterday was a complete blast and fun time. The new profile pics will be showing up soon. Everyone should experience a photo shoot, so don't miss out on an opportunity to do something for yourself. Jon would love to do a sitting for you - give him a shout! info@artbyjon.com A big thank you to the Wright family.

Lindsey Ann Suess Just finished my photo shoot for facebook day with J&K Creative! Had such a blast and lots of fun! So many pictures to choose from! For everyone who didn't go, you really missed out!!

An experience to remember
A photo shoot with Jon, Kathy, and their daughter is more than saying "puppy" to a camera. Jon is totally dedicated to a one-on-one sitting and makes you feel relaxed. "Creative" is right on with results that are amazing!

Fun Photos
What an experience! Jon and Kathy make you feel so welcome and comfortable when they are photographing you. Not everyone likes their pictures taken but they manage to put some fun into it and even make you look great! It did not even hurt! LOL. I appreciate the time they take to get to know who we are as individuals to make this experience one that I would continue to come back for and I TOTALLY recommend them for any photography needs you may have! They are easy to work with!
