New Background Color Choices

J&K Creative! is now utilizing color gels on background lighting. These gels allow us to match wardrobe colors in a whole new way. We can now create a rainbow of choices for your portrait photography.

Impressionist Look

Today I thought I'd try an impressionist style to an image.

Yesterday Amanda came over to show us her new jacket. She earned it by lettering in academics as a freshman at Anoka High School. It was nice to get out of the studio and into the great outdoors. I didn't bother to look for my shadow.

Interior Photography In Cokato

Today we photographed a beautiful home just south of Cokato, Minnesota. Exotic granite and ceramic tiles from around the world are a highlight of this magnificent home. Panoramic views of beautiful rolling hills provide a stunning backdrop. Much of the work was done by Lundeen Construction of Cokato.

The Importance Of Networking

It seems we have all been touched in one way or another by the recent downturn in the economy. For small business owners it doesn't take long to feel the "pinch". One way to survive in this crisis is to network in every way you can. That may mean handing your business card to everyone you come into contact with during the day. For example, we recently booked an interior photo shoot for a contractor that had held on to our business card for over a year. When our services were needed he called us. You also may want to follow up with past customers or you may want to join a business network, such as Business Network International. We belong to the Westonka BNI in our area and have benefited greatly by being members.

It's great when business opportunities just fall into your lap. When that doesn't happen you've got to "take it to the street". Use every opportunity to get the word out that you are willing to do whatever it takes to earn a clients business. Besides the aforementioned ways to network you may want to seriously consider the social and business networking opportunities available through Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and a blog, such as this one. Remember, friends often become clients when they learn more about your business and what you do.

Please Visit "Paris Et Cie"

Kim, at Paris Et Cie is now following the J&K blog. I am so happy about that, as her blog was my inspiration for this project. Her blog is wonderful! It is entertaining and educational. She offers up amazing images and has such a love for the subject that one would fall in love with Paris even if they had never been there before. I encourage you to bookmark her site and visit often. You will come to love it as much as I do.

Practicing Digital Painting

Every so often I like to go digging through the archives to find images I might have previously ovelooked. Sometimes I find ones that have potential to be developed up in a different way. I am constantly trying to improve my digital painting techniques. I hope you enjoy it.

Should you convert NW air miles to Delta?

NO, at least not now. It seemed logical enough. Delta is the new deal in town and Northwest is on it's way out. A reasonable person would be concerned about the security of those NW miles. There is one huge difference. Northwest air miles do NOT expire. Delta's expire after a year. It is my advice that unless you are flying soon just hang tight until you are forced to convert to Delta miles.

John Woodward At TCPPA Yesterday

Kathy and I attended an excellent seminar by nationally known photographer, John Woodward last night. His extensive knowledge of lighting and composition made for a very enlightening afternoon and evening. I hope to utilize a number of ideas from this session. TCPPA continues to be the best resource I know of when it comes to enlightening and inspiring my approach to photography. If you are an aspiring photographer or a seasoned pro you will never find a group that offers such an amazing roster of educational programs.

Bloomington Ice Garden Is Tough!

This has to be the most limiting arena in the metro area. The glass is extremely high all the way around. The only reasonable vantage point is at the top of either of the blue zone steps. At 5'8" I could just barely get the goal in the frame. Next time I shoot there I'll bring my little black box. Watch for more photos on Wayzata.com.
